Autodesk Acquires Dynamite VSP and Dynamite SIM

Over the last several years we’ve seen Autodesk feature renderings created using Autodesk 3D Studio Max Design and a third-party product from 3AM Solutions named Dynamite VSP. For the uninitiated, Dynamite VSP is a product designed specifically for the civil engineering industry. No pun intended, but it helps bridge the gap between AutoCAD Civil 3D and Autodesk 3D Studio Max Design, making the civil visualization process more accessible.

Today Autodesk announced it has completed the acquisition of the Dynamite VSP and Dynamite SIM visualization products from 3AM Solutions. While a specific roadmap for how the Dynamite products will be integrated hasn’t been made available, the press release does say:

Autodesk intends to integrate core technology from the Dynamite VSP and Dynamite SIM products into 3ds Max Design and other existing Autodesk architecture, civil engineering and visual communication applications.

Does that mean Dynamite VSP and Dynamite SIM will be integrated in a similar way to Hydraflow? Where it was initially rebranded, and released as a Subscription add-on, and eventually integrated into the Civil 3D installation itself. How Autodesk chooses to integrate Dynamite VSP and Dynamite SIM into its portfolio is anyone’s guess, but should be good news for anyone looking to venture into the realm of civil visualization.

Here’s a quick video explaining Dynamite VSP in a little more detail:
