Resources

Since its inception in 2006, the principal focus of The CAD Geek has been to empower design professionals with free tutorials, insights, and industry news about design technology. Of course, while tools like AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and many others from Autodesk play a critical role in my professional life, they’re not the only tools I rely upon on a daily basis.

Recognizing this, the purpose of this page is to curate some of those additional tools I find critical to the work I do each day. Each of the tools curated below are tools that, in some way, help me do the work I do. From using design technology to managing it, from authoring content for The CAD Geek to supporting teams at my company. These are the tools I turn to to get work done.

Graphical & Video Communication

Communicating with graphics and video is critical not just to running The CAD Geek, but also for the ways I support teams as a CAD manager. As they’re critical to both the work I do as part of The CAD Geek and that of my actual day job, these are undoubtedly some of my most used tools on this list.

  • Snagit: The best tool for screenshots and basic screen video recording.
  • Camtasia: The best tool for recording your screen, editing, and producing videos.
  • Canva: The best tool for creating professional looking graphics, process cheat sheets, and more.
