    Donnie,
Your points are all well taken. The is a storm on the horizon in the basics of Cad Standards as the wolrd migrates into 3D. Layer conventions no longer make sense or apply. Internal design standards become much more important. Company file management standards and standard library maintenance become larger thasn life. During the transision to 3D the resistance to change will make the up front development of a new standard that much more important.
Of all factors the issue of file management and standard part libraries (or lack there of) will be a whole new arena needing forethought.

Thanks for the info Donnie, or should I say the heads up.
I have just been contracting with a company that use Data Cad & the boss (3 man company) wanted me to not spend much time, (“a couple of hrs at the most”) on setting up a cad standard for me working with ACA to look like their DataCad. I got very frustrated & he eventually said that my drafting was too expensive. I am a bit slow drafting but it is not really my forte, I am more of a small project manager/draftsman tah a strait draftsman.
Any how I have to go back to hussling up more of my own work & perfecting/starting a good standard for myself so that I can be more productive.
Can you put me onto any recsources as to how to set up standards for ACA 08
    Cheers Dermot (Australia)
